Reiki
synchronises healing in Mind,
Body and Spirit,
bringing an increase in intuition and personal empowerment
|
Once you have been attuned
to Reiki, You have it for life!
|
There is a well-known slogan, sometimes seen on car stickers:
“
A dog is for life, not just for Christmas”.
My personal commitment:
“
A Reiki student is for life, not just for an attunement”.
Laura Brown

Reiki
is complementary to conventional medicine and enhances other
forms of therapy, for example Reflexology, Bach Remedies,
Aromatherapy, Homeopathy.
|
“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” “When
the teacher is ready, the student will appear.” |
On
a lighter note …
Since the telling of this little story always raises a
smile, I would like to share it with you here:
I give hands-on Reiki to my washing machine every time
I put in a load, just for the few seconds it takes for
it to engage the programme I want. I have done this ever
since the time it made a loud, strange noise at me at start-up.
As it seemed to cure it the first time I tried it …
I have carried on.

WHAT
IS REIKI?
Reiki is an ancient and powerful yet gentle technique, for empowerment
and healing, which can bring about profound personal and
spiritual growth and transformation.
The
word “Reiki” is made up of two Japanese words:
“Rei” means
Universal, and “Ki” means energy, the same
energy as Chi which occurs in Tai Chi (Chinese), and Prana
(as in Yoga). Reiki is the vital life force that flows
through all living things, and which is channelled during:
|
 |
a
healing treatment by a Reiki practitioner, to bring
about deep relaxation, |
| |
stress reduction, pain relief and healing, and |
 |
an
attunement from a Reiki Master to a student, which
connects the |
| |
student
directly to the source, for personal and spiritual
advancement, as |
| |
well
as the ability to give healing to family, friends,
animals, and plants. |
|
What
happens during a Reiki healing?
During
a healing session lasting approximately one hour, the client
is treated either seated in a chair or lying down on a
therapy couch, fully clothed. The practitioner gently lays
hands, in the traditionally taught positions, on the patient’s
body, allowing the energy to flow. It is non-invasive,
and there is no pressure. Each position is usually held
for several minutes, although problem areas – backache
for instance - may require longer. A pleasant sensation
of warmth is usually felt in the area being treated. The
client naturally draws the Reiki energy to where it is
most needed, blocked energies are released within the body,
and a state of balance occurs.
What’s
next?
Having benefitted from Reiki treatments, many are guided to learn Reiki for
themselves. Although we all have the potential to be healers, in order to channel
the energy, you must first receive attunements from a Reiki Master.
However,
it is by no means essential to have received a treatment
at any time prior to your first attunement. A number
of my students have been guided to learn Reiki just because “the
time felt right” to take this step in their personal
journey, and you may perhaps be feeling the same way.
Attunement
to Reiki is in three stages, or Degrees:
|
| Reiki
I |

|
Learn
the history of the rediscovery of this ancient healing
art |

|
Receive
attunements to the Reiki energy |

|
Learn
the hand positions for channelling the healing to oneself
|
| |
and
others
and how to give a treatment |
|
| Reiki
II |

|
Receive
further attunements – these increase your “hands-on” |
|
healing
ability, spiritual development and intuition |

|
Sacred
symbols are taught, together with their use |
 |
Distant
healing techniques are taught, and practiced |
|
Reiki
III
|

|
Master/Teacher |

|
More
symbols are taught and there is a final attunement |

|
Some
choose Mastership just for themselves, some wish to go
on to teach Reiki – the choice is yours |
|
Following
their attunements, many say that it has been one of the most profound
and
beautiful experiences of their life. Some “see” white
or golden light during the process, others speak of brilliant colours,
or experience a wonderful boost in energy. It is different for everyone,
but I never fail to feel honoured at having been entrusted to facilitate
and share in each student’s personal advancement, at all levels
of Reiki attunement.
What I offer
Reiki books
I
am often asked to recommend books on Reiki, and since everyone’s
curiosity and thirst for knowledge is different, my suggestion
is that you visit either your local lending library, or a bookshop,
or browse on-line, and just see what appeals to you or jumps out
at you. An excellent exercise in learning to trust your intuition!

Resources
Page for some on-line book suppliers.
Further reading
There are probably thousands, if not millions, of Reiki and other
healing websites out there in cyberspace, many providing a vast
amount of information. It is not my intention to try and re-invent
the wheel, so I have provided a short list of some other sites,
which I hope you may find of interest.
You
will find this list on my Resources
page – just click
on the link.
